Reflections
Experience: This exercise allowed me to reflect on my previous exercises and how I had applied the typographic system. Creating an infographic is more challenging than making a poster with non-text-based information since it needs to be aesthetically pleasing, readable, and simple to read.
I also relate to what Mr. Fauzi instructed us in class—that we should not focus too much on references or copy my design verbatim, considering that we have so much work to accomplish in such a limited amount of time. I have high standards for my own work and thus procrastinate, but now I know that it is better to start and adjust my design step by step.
Observation: I observed that there are infographics that have too much information, which makes them cluttered and unattractive. With limited space, too much text can be overwhelming to the audience. That is why illustrations and pictures are essential—they convey information in a quick and efficient manner with little text for clarity. Information does not necessarily have to be text-based to be comprehensible.
Findings: An appealing design is important, but the main goal of an infographic is to communicate information clearly. Sharing our work with others is essential, as feedback provides different perspectives and helps improve our design skills.
